As we look back on 2023 it was definitely an interesting year. It began straight out the gate with some serious winter storms bringing lots of rain & snow, followed by our latest ever bud break, a cooler growing season that lead to our latest harvest of white varietals. Our vines took on these changing growing conditions without pause. This past year highlights the health and resiliency of this coastal mountain vineyard that we are so fortunate to steward. We are farming much more than grapes up here, we are farming an ecosystem.
Cheers to 2023 and looking forward for all that 2024 has in store 💫

Although we have a biodiverse permanent cover crop in our vineyard year round and we are surrounded by native forest & fauna we felt we could step up our pollinator habitat even more. We have worked hard this year to create some important pollinator habitat cooridors within & surrounding the vineyard. For the love of our soil & our vines!

Fall vineyard application of AEA Regenerative Soil Primer (between grape picks on Oct. 13/14). Giving our vineyard a little extra love before the vines go to bed for the winter. Just because the vines go dormant through the winter months doesn’t mean the soil does. This is the time of year when the energy of the ecosystem shifts from above ground to below ground. Over the cold winter months the soil system continues to work its magic! The soil primer helps boost soil microbial populations which aid in a myriad of important ecosystem functions such as nutrient cycling & availability to our vines and cover crop all the while improving vine health, disease resistance & climate resilience.

A shout out to our amazing @advancingecoag Regenerative Agronomy Consultant, Pedro for his knowledge and guidance to help us optimize the overall health of our vineyard.
